A special edition of Big Al’s Rockin’ Radio Show took place on Saturday, July 29, 2023. A2Z Radio’s friends in the rock band EightBall are in the process of recording their fifth studio album and they’ve given us three of those tracks to play for you as a sneak peak. To make this special edition a little more special, Big Al asked each member of the band to tell him a few of their favorite southern rock songs.

In this hit and run episode, for the first time on A2Z Radio, I was joined via Zoom chat by my fellow DJ and long time friend Rockin’ Rob. Being the first time doing this kind of show, it took us a few talk breaks to get our mic levels corrected. Shout out to Speedway Jeff and LilWilly for their real-time feedback. During the show we talk about random things, starting with the weather.

Inspired by a “which group of artists would you choose” type poll on Twitter, I decided to do a hit and run style show and do double shots from all the artists listed in that tweet. To give it an A to Z twist, I played the songs in alphabetical order by artist name, starting with AC/DC and ending with ZZ Top.

Big Al’s good friend Jeff, aka Mr. Asterisk, joined him live in the studio and they played some great classic tunes. During the show, Jeff sent out a dedication to a couple people he loves. Jeff and Al also took a moment to pay tribute to a great friend who was a legend in their local terrestrial radio scene. They had a great time and plan to do this on a semi-regular basis. Watch out people!
